FIREWOOD DELIVERY 2022-23

Especially with the prospect of home heating costs this coming winter, if you are fortunate enough to have a wood burning stove – there is a way to stay nice and warm without getting a second mortgage! If you have had your stove for awhile, you know exactly what we are talking about.

The past few years have been relatively mild. As a result, many that favored an alternative wood heat chose pellet stoves. And, you are certainly aware that folks are pre-ordering their winter pellet supply (now) because getting those pellets is not  going to get cheaper. Many "popular brand" providers ship  from as far away as Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia. The price increases for transport  will put a pinch on your purchase. Availability (and the upcoming costs) of "compressed fire-logs" is pretty much in the same category. We realize these two options are convenient. We also realize that convenience usually has a cost.

Our firewood is aged and dried right on the property and cut to size right before delivery. We suggest ordering firewood in late Summer (or early Spring). Autumn and winter deliveries are determined primarily by the weather. We have very affordable and competitive full/multiple and half cord prices.

We are a tree removal company. We have a fairly guaranteed supply of product.

FIREWOOD FACTS

A cord of wood is 8' x 4' x 4'. Our delivery truck holds over a cord of wood, and we deliver full truck loads unless you request otherwise.

If you are simply supplementing your home's gas, oil or electric with wood, you can expect to use (on average) a cord of wood per winter. This year (all things considered), we suggest being a little pessimistic and proactive. If you normally order a cord, order at least a cord and a half (or two). The worst that can happen is you will have wood left over for the following year.

If you have been using wood as your primary heat for a few years, you probably already know what you need.

If you have been using compressed wood logs, possibly consider a half cord. Just sharing a little common sense with regards to prices and availability. "Better to know you will be warm."

Trivia/Hint

A 1,000 square foot house in a temperate zone will need 2 to 3 cords of wood in the colder months for heating. The total amount of firewood you should have on hand is around 250 to 380 cubic feet. (This is if you are heating entirely by wood – not just supplementing your gas, oil or electric.)

In general, cord wood remains the most affordable alternative for winter heating. While solar is probably the best renewable choice – the initial investment tends to be substantially higher and outside the practical reach for most households.
